DGPT Launches 2024 Q-Series: A New Path to Tour Card Qualification

February 8, 2024: The Disc Golf Pro Tour is thrilled to introduce the 2024 Qualifying Series (Q-Series), a qualifying circuit designed to offer FPO and MPO competitors a new pathway to earn their place on the 2025 Tour. The DGPT will award six (6) MPO and four (4) FPO 2025 tour cards based on the results of the 2024 Q-Series. The inaugural Q-Series schedule will feature multiple PDGA A-tier events across the United States, culminating in a November finale in the Southeastern United States – the location of which will be announced soon.

Below is the initial slate of 2024 Q-Series events. More tournaments may be added at a later date. Tournament Directors who are interested in being a part of the Q-Series can submit their event for consideration here.

Like the DGPT Championship, the Q-Series finale will only be open to competitors who qualify via a season-long points standings. However, the Q-Series points standings are separate from the DGPT World Rankings that qualify competitors for the 2024 DGPT Championship. Q-Series points will be awarded to competitors at the same scale (100 points for a win, etc.) as the World Standings, and competitors will be allowed to count their top-three finishes on the Q-Series towards the points standings totals.

In addition to qualifying for the Q-Series finale via the Q-Series points standings, competitors can also qualify via their DGPT World Standings ranking.

Division DGPT Q-Series Points Standings DGPT World Standings
FPO Top (25) players qualify* Standings position 46-80 qualify**
MPO Top (50) players qualify* Standings position 91-150 qualify**

*The Q-Series finale is only open to qualified players who have NOT already earned a 2025 tour card upon the conclusion of the DGPT season. If a competitor participates in Q-Series events but then earns their 2025 Tour Card via other methods, they will become ineligible to earn more Q-Series points and ineligible to compete at the Q-Series finale.

**The top 45 FPO and top 90 MPO competitors in the 2024 DGPT World Standings will automatically earn 2025 tour cards and are thus ineligible to compete in the Q-Series finale.

“Our goal with the Q-Series is to provide an additional merit-based pathway to tour card qualification for up-and-coming players,” said Jeff Spring, DGPT CEO and Tour Director. “By inviting competitors who fell just shy of earning a tour card via the World Standings, we aim to increase the level of competition at the finale and provide one additional opportunity for up-and-coming players on tour to earn a tour card instead of applying for an exemption.”

In addition to awarding full tour card access for 2025, the Q-Series will also grant silver tour cards (partial tour card access) to regular season Q-Series event winners and qualify said champions for one future DGPT event of their choosing. Tour card access will be granted based on the following achievements:

Player Achievement Awards
Placing in the top 2 (FPO) or top 3 (MPO) in the Q-Series points standings (after the Q-Series finale) 2025 Tour Card
Placing 1st or 2nd in the FPO division at the Q-Series finale 2025 Tour Card
Placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the MPO division at the Q-Series finale 2025 Tour Card
Placing 3rd-5th in the FPO division at the Q-Series finale 2025 Silver Card
Placing 4th-8th in the MPO division at the Q-Series finale 2025 Silver Card
Winning a regular season DGPT Q-Series event 2025 Silver Card
