The second round of Clash at the Canyons started off with a star filled feature card, ready to pump up the sold out crowd.  Matt Bell tried to follow up his hot round 1 but ended up with a -7, dropping him down to 2nd place.  Chandler Fry came in charging from the chase card and takes the overall lead with a -12 on the day.  Terry Rothlisberger keeps a clean bogey-free score on the day, and has sole possession of 3rd place with a -8.

Dan Schlitter, starting the day off in 2nd place fell two spots finishing in a tie for 4th place with a -5.  He had 6 chances at boosting that C2 putting rate, but could not connect with any outside the circle all day.

Brodie Smith, who was sitting in 3rd place after a spectacular round 1, fell 7 spots to 10th place.  After a pair of bogey’s to start the round, he followed up with 3 birdies and  40% C2 putting.  But it wasn’t enough to stay on top of the leaderboard.

The final card is set for round 3 with Chandler Fry, Matt Bell, Terry Rothlisberger, and Connor O’Reilly.  O’Reilly moved up 12 spots shooting a bogey-free -11 on the day.  He’s looking for another good finish at a Silver Series event, he finished 4th at the Mid-America Open.

MPO 2nd Round Notes
  • Chandler Fry and Connor O’Reilly are the only players on lead card without an OB stroke during the 2nd round.
  • Only 6 strokes separate the players between 1st-10th place.  Depending on hot starts, we could see lots of movement.

  • Billy Armstrong has the lone ace on the day, smashing a 295ft shot on hole 5.

In the FPO division, Kristin Tattar has taken a 3 stroke lead and solo first place heading into the final round with a +1 on the day.  Kat Mertsch moved up from the chase card, also shooting a +1 and she’s looking to continue her Silver Series podium streak, after finishing 3rd at the Resistance Discs Open.  Sarah Gilpin and Kat Mertsch, are tied for 2nd heading into round 3, Gilpin is looking for that top finish as well after 5th place at the Mid-America Open.   Sarah Hokom also moves up from the chase card shooting a +2 round.  Holly Finley started with a share of the lead but drops 3 spots to 4th, after a bad bogey run on holes 7-10, going OB on 3 holes.

FPO 2nd Round Notes
  • Sarah Gilpin and Kat Mertsch both have 100% C1X putting for round 2.
  • Kristin Tattar leads in strokes gained Tee to Green with 8.63, while Sarah Gilpin leads in strokes gained putting with 4.22.
