The weather cleared out for the third round of Discraft’s Green Mountain Championship, presented by Upper Park Disc Golf, and competitors on both courses were able to take advantage of the calmer conditions.

DGPT points, sponsorship incentives, prizes and, of course, the trophy, were all on the line during Saturday’s round. With the player cutoff for Sunday’s round, each competitor came out trying to throw their best as they switched back to the first course they played on the weekend.

The big story of the day in the FPO division was Hailey King’s (-6) course record -9 at Fox Run Meadows. Her 1058-rated round was a big boon to her tournament. Her bogey-free -9 was 7 strokes better than the next best round, which vaulted her into first place. Her putts were on point today, as she hit 3 putts from C2. She will need to perform much better than she did on Friday at Brewster Ridge, where she shot +6, but at this point, the tournament is hers to lose.

Hailey King destroyed the Fox Run Meadow course on Saturday, shooting 1058-rated -9, a new course record. She leads Sarah Hokom by 4 strokes heading into the final round.

Sarah Hokom (-2) and Paige Pierce (E) had similar rounds as they did yesterday, with Hokom collecting mostly pars with a couple of birdies sprinkled in, whereas Pierce had another up-and-down round, carding 7 birdies, and 6 bogeys with 6 OB throws. These two were the only other FPO players to shoot below par during Saturday’s round. Heather Young (+9) was the last player on the lead card, but her round fell off the tracks early and she was never able to overcome a pair of triple-bogeys. She did salvage a bit with 3 birdies in the back 9, but with 11 strokes over par, she ended up dropping to T-6th and 15 strokes behind King.

With players like Catrina Allen (+5) and Jessica Weese (+6) chasing the leaders, the podium could have a shakeup at the end of Sunday’s final round, but in order for someone to catch up to King, we would need to see a lot go right and a lot go wrong.

FPO Final Round Feature Card | Hailey King | Sarah Hokom | Paige Pierce | Catrina Allen

FPO Round 3 Notes:

  • Hailey King (-6) shot a course record -9, a 1058-rated round, and was the only one to shoot a bogey-free round
  • Cynthia Ricciotti (+21) lead the division with 88% C1X putting. Paige Pierce (E) was just behind at 86%
  • Sandi Hendel (+29) went 3-for-4 from C2, hitting 3 38-ft putts
  • Pierce narrowly edged out King for most strokes gained Tee to Green, at 7.72 and 7.71
  • King dominated on the putting green, gaining 5.41 strokes on the field

Continuing his dominance over both courses, Chris Dickerson (-34) shot an unbelievable bogey-free -13 round. Through 3 rounds, Dickerson has averaged a 1079 rating and has yet to take a bogey on the weekend. Just behind him, Ricky Wysocki (-29) and Andrew Presnell (-21) both shot bogey-free -10 rounds. They will need to hope for a slip-up from Dickerson if they hope to take the trophy home. But Sunday’s final round will be an exciting showdown between these two for who will take home 2nd place.

With an average rating of 1079 through 3 rounds, Chris Dickerson sits in 1st place at -34, with a 5 stroke lead over Ricky Wysocki and a 13-stroke lead over 3rd place.

7 strokes behind 3rd place, and 13 strokes behind Dickerson, players like Matthew Orum (-21), Paul McBeth (-21), and Andrew Marwede (-21) will all be likely playing for that 4th place finish, along with Bradley Williams (-20), Alex Russell (-19) and a slew of other big-name players like Heimburg, Bell, Conrad, and Ulibarri.

As the MPO heads back to Fox Run Meadows, there will be a lot on the line in terms of DGPT Championship points and prize payouts, but one thing is certain; it would take a miracle for someone to take the trophy from Dickerson, as his other round at Fox Run was the hot round of the day, -12.

MPO Round 3 Notes:

  • Chris Dickerson (-34) lead with a 72% birdie rate, getting 13 of 18 holes and is still bogey-free for the tournament
  • Dickerson also lead with the most strokes gained from Tee to Green with 7.76, a full stroke over Andrew Presnell (-28) who had 6.12
  • Phil Dilone (E) gained the most strokes putting, hitting 5 38-ft putts from C2, to gain 4.15 strokes on the field
  • Gannon Buhr (-15) shot a -12 round, jumping up 31 spots on the leaderboard into T-21st
