2021 LEDGESTONE INSURANCE OPEN – ROUND 2 RECAP

The second round of Ledgestone Insurance Open took the MPO division to the newly designed Northwood Black course.  The ultra challenging course tested the the best in the world, as well as racing to battle the diminishing light.  Going into the round, we had Ricky Wysocki and Drew Gibson leading the pack.  Wysocki drops two spots to third, shooting a (-3).  He was putting super hot with 100% C1X putting and 63% C2 putting.  Gibson drops one spot to second, shooting a (-4), also 100% C1X putting and leading the card with 81% fairway hits.

Calvin Heimburg takes over the top spot with a 1062 rated round (-7), despite taking an 8 on hole 14.  Heimburg is leading the field in birdie rate (61%), circle 1 in regulation (56%) and circle 2 in regulation (69%).  Eagle McMahon rounds out the top 4 shooting a (-4) as well as 100%C1x.

MPO Round 2 Notes:

  • Hole 12 at 1050ft (Par 5) on Northwood Black is playing most difficult, carding zero birdies and a 7 average score.
  • Matt Bell rings up an ace on hole 8 (389 ft)
  • Calvin Heimburg (-16) gained the most strokes Tee to Green at 10.15, followed by Andrew Marwede (-12) at 9.11
  • Cole Redalen (-12), Andrew Marwede (-12), and Eagle McMahon (-12) are in a 3 way tie for 4th.

 

On the FPO side, we saw the women tee of in the morning at Sunset Hills.  Paige Pierce is building up a sizable lead shooting a (-7), and taking a 7 stroke lead on the field.  Missy Ganon moves up two spots shooting a (-6) with only 1 bogey on the day.  Maria Oliva holds down the number 3 spot and shoots (-3) with a 29% C2 putting, including a long 60 footer on hole 16.

Sarah Hokum keeps her number 4 spot shooting a (-5) with a relatively clean scorecard, aside from the double bogey 5 on hole 12.  Catrina Allen jumps up three spots for the number 5 spot shooting a (-2).

Paige Pierce and Heather Young. Pierce will be looking to add to her lead during round 3. While Young needs to make a charge on moving day.

FPO Round 2 Notes:

  • Catrina Allen (-2) leads in circle 2 in regulation (70%) and in scramble rate (50%)
  • Paige Pierce (-7) leads with an 50% birdie rate and 50% circle 1 in regulation.
  • Four players are 100% C1x putting (Heather Young, Christine Jennings, Callie McMorran, and Ellen Widboom)
  • Alexis Mandujano (-3) leads in strokes gained putting at 5.81, with 82% C1X and 50% C2 putting.
