Jennifer Allen Claims Victory with Unforgettable Opening Shot

With the victory this weekend, Jennifer Allen has earned her FIRST DGPT win! Allen put together a commanding round on Saturday, her 10 under moving day round was the hot round of the tournament in the FPO division. Holding a 2-stroke lead heading into Championship Sunday, Allen exhibited unwavering confidence that reverberated throughout the entire round. To top it off, Allen captivated spectators by unleashing a flawless first shot of the day on the tournament’s opening hole. This awe-inspiring ACE symbolized Allen’s journey towards triumph, and one could argue it was the difference maker for Allen (as she’d go on to win the event by just 2 strokes).

Holyn Handley (PDGA# 133547) valiantly battled through every round, displaying determination that matched Jennifer Allen’s unyielding confidence. Handley showcased her exceptional skills by claiming the top spot in multiple statistical categories. She led the FPO division in parked drives (19%) and circle 2 putts (27%). She also matched Jennifer Allen’s final performance with a score of 8-under par on Sunday.

Adding to the intrigue, during the final round Handley delivered a jaw-dropping 49 ft putt on hole 17 to stay within a stroke of the lead (and setting the stage for a thrilling final hole showdown).

Despite Handley’s valiant efforts, Jennifer Allen ultimately emerged as the victor, securing a final score of -23, leaving Handley 2 strokes behind with her impressive -21 performance. Allen and Handley’s fierce competition left the rest of the FPO field trailing in their wake, there was an astonishing 10-stroke gap between 2nd and 3rd place scores.

In the captivating race for the 3rd place position, Maria Oliva (PDGA# 63257), Rebecca Cox (PDGA# 32917), and the ever-determined Ohn Scoggins (PDGA# 48976) engaged in a thrilling battle. Ultimately, it was Oliva who clinched the podium finish with a final score of 11-under par. According to UDisc, Scoggins secured the coveted top spot in circle 1 putting throughout the tournament (87%).

With competitive play in the MPO division, the stage was set for an intense battle in the final round. Holding a slim one-stroke lead, Eagle McMahon found himself on the verge of claiming the coveted title, while a host of formidable competitors left no stone unturned in their quest to snatch the victory. Following a grueling contest, McMahon emerged triumphant with an outstanding score of 31 under par, securing his long-awaited first win of 2023!
