Another exciting weekend watching a disc golf tournament live! The North Cove courses proved to be fun yet difficult for our pros.

Kristin Tattar: Back to back wins!

Kristin Tattar , Sarah Hokom, and Hanna Huynh were all contending for the lead spot at the 2023 Innova Blue Ridge Championship. The FPO Division showed up in strong and fierce fashion.

Kristin Tattar had another amazing weekend of disc golf! She astounded us yet again by birdies on 46% of all of the holes for each round according to UDisc. Tattar only bogeyed two holes of all of the holes the entire tournament which was an incredible feat to pull of at the difficult North Cove: Boulders course.

This is the first time that the FPO winner was further under par than the MPO winner at any Disc Golf Pro Tour event. Our hats are off to Tattar and her amazing feat from this weekend!

And according to UDisc she had 67% of fairway hits, and her putting was on point with 68% accuracy on circle 1 putts.

Another top player to watch was Hanna Huynh! Huynh placed third on the podium after an incredible three rounds. To kick off her round on Saturday she threw an fantastic shot off the tee for a birdie on hole 1! You can watch that shot below and also Huynh making it in all the from the drop zone. Huynh’s accuracy from the tee pad to the fairway was at 81%, and a fantastic 61% accuracy for circle one putts.

A hard won battle for Gannon Buhr.

Let’s get into the MPO division tournament breakdown.

Gannon Buhr’s fought hard and won the tournament from the chase card, bringing a second win from the chase card this season. Buhr had impressive first and second rounds but truly brought the win home for himself with his final round with 11 birdies and 72% fairway hits.

The third round the 18th hole for Buhr was a true nail biter with a bogey and only one stroke between him and Bradley Williams. This now puts Gannon Buhr as number one in the World Rankings for the MPO Division. This means that he is now the youngest leader in the UDisc World Rankings at the age of 17!!

The North Cove: Gorge course proved to be extremely difficult especially on the back 9 of the course. The whole course only had seven holes that played under par on average, which is a first for the season thus far. Hole 18 proved to be especially hard with most players scoring +1.53 on average above par. Only one player in the entire MPO division, Elliot McCourry, scored a birdie and that was out of each round played. Hole 18 had 20% of players making triple bogey or worse just in round three.

In the third round Bradley Williams who was on the lead card was impressive and he came close to tying with Buhr to head to a playoff for the top spot on the podium. With the intense rain coming down on the final round at hole 18 Williams made a smart decision to layup for par instead of pushing for the birdie and risking a bogey. Williams impressed everyone and moved up nine spots in the tournament rankings just in the second round alone, with a phenomenal round and an impressive eight birdies and only one bogey.

In non-podium news, have we found the next Gannon Buhr? In the first round 13 year old Wyatt Mahoney from Connecticut ranked 19th overall with a score of two under. His first round was amazing with six birdies and only four bogies. Mahoney is an up and comer to look out for!

The first major of the year is this coming weekend April 20-23 at the PDGA Champion’s Cup in Appling, Georgia.
