In a surprising turn of events, Eagle McMahon (PDGA# 37817) has announced his departure from Discmania after 9 years of dedicated partnership. The decision comes as a significant shift for both McMahon and Discmania, marking the end of an era that began when the young talent signed with the company at the age of 16 in 2014.

McMahon, now a seasoned athlete with an impressive track record, revealed the news in a heartfelt video message to his fans. Reflecting on his journey with Discmania, the 25-year-old Denver, Colorado native reminisced about turning down better offers back in 2014. In the video, McMahon explained that, at that time, he trusted his instincts and had a “gut feeling” that Discmania was the right fit for him. Fast forward to 2024, and history seems to repeat itself, but this time, McMahon is being guided in a different direction.

McMahon’s impact goes beyond his on-course achievements; his charisma and dynamic playing style have made him a fan favorite, contributing to the growth of disc golf as a whole. During his nearly decade-long tenure with Discmania, McMahon established himself as one of the sport’s brightest stars, claiming victory in an impressive 15  Disc Golf Pro Tour events (across DGPT Elite, Silver, and PDGA Major events). Notably, he attained 13 top-10 finishes in 2023, and clinched 2 PDGA Major titles—the 2022 European Open and the 2018 Konopiste Open. The departure of McMahon not only leaves a void in the Discmania roster but also signals an end of an era for the company.

Discmania faced a similar situation last offseason when another of their star players, Simon Lizotte (PDGA# 8332), departed to sign a decade-long deal with MVP. The back-to-back departures of Lizotte and McMahon have prompted disc golf enthusiasts to reflect on the changing landscape of player sponsorships within the sport.

As McMahon ventures into the next phase of his career, enthusiasts of disc golf are anxiously awaiting updates on his upcoming sponsorship. Speculation is rife within the community, with both fans and experts eager to discover which company will successfully enlist the services of this dynamic disc golfer.

For now, the disc golf world bids farewell to Eagle McMahon’s time with Discmania, expressing gratitude for the thrilling moments and indelible memories he created during his 9-year journey with the company. As the sport continues to evolve, fans remain excited to witness McMahon’s future endeavors and the impact he will undoubtedly leave on the ever-growing world of disc golf.
