Ricky Wysocki Reclaims #1 Spot in UDisc World Rankings

Last weekend, the 2023 Preserve Championship Presented by Prodigy Disc took place. Before the tournament, we had the opportunity to speak with some of the professionals and tournament staff. Ricky Wysocki provided insight into his wrist injury and plans for his future. Ricky proved that even though his wrist might not be at 100%, he can still outperform some of the best competitors in the MPO division.

During the interview, Brian Earhart asked Ricky a pretty significant question: how long does he plan on playing professionally? It turns out that Ricky has been contemplating this question himself. Ricky’s current plan is to retire around the age of 40 and to prioritize taking excellent care of himself. Ricky believes that the better care he takes of himself, the longer he will be able to continue playing. He hopes to develop his own disc golf country-club-type property in the future rather than opting for a facility like the Airborn Preserve.

En route to his first Elite Series win of the season, Wysocki lead the field in birdie percentage, was 2nd in C2 in regulation, and was in the top five MPO players in C1 putting and C1 in regulation. In short, Ricky played aggressively off the tee and made putts when it counted. This weekend was Wysocki’s second DGPT win of the season after missing a large portion of the season due to injury and an ongoing battle with Lyme disease.

After his win, he spoke again with Brian Earhart and let us all know that while he was still having wrist pains over the weekend, he took a pain reliever and kept competing. Ricky’s post-injury care and health rituals will help him be able to keep playing and performing up until his 40s. This seems to be proving him correct because this weekend’s win pushed him to the top of the MPO division’s UDisc’s world rankings. After an abbreviated first half of the season, Wysocki is back on top!
