Wysocki’s Momentum

Ricky Wysocki is due for a win. In the inaugural Disc Golf Pro Tour season last year, Wysocki won 3 of 5 tournaments and he’s playing even better this year.
Improving StatisticallyAfter 3 events in 2017, we have full stats for Ricky on 162 holes and can look at his performance this season. On the stats page of UDisc Live, we rank every player on tour across several factors . For season stats, we set a threshold of holes tracked to be included in rankings to prevent players with just a couple rounds tracked from muddling the data.
For 2017, Ricky is the only MPO player on tour ranked in the top 5 for every stat. Wysocki has also improved in nearly every category over his 2016 numbers.

Improving CompetitionThe one stat Ricky would like to show improvement in 2017 is wins, and thus far, first place has proved elusive for him on the pro tour. Wysocki had some big wins on the National Tour and World Tour as well as a 10 stroke victory last weekend at the Texas State Championship.
Ricky wasn’t the only player showing major gains – Paul McBeth ‘s numbers are way up on all the driving statistics and McBeth is currently the top player on tour in 3 of the the 4 driving categories. Simon Lizotte is new to the tour this year and has been near the top of the leaderboard at each event.

Improving Each RoundOne other area Ricky tends to move only upwards is on the leaderboards. I looked at Ricky’s position after each round for every pro tour tournament in 2016 and 2017. In 18 opportunities to rise or fall, Ricky only fell in position one time, when James Conrad played an incredible final round in Waco.

Tour Points MatterAnother area we may see Ricky climb is tour points. Ricky won the tour points title in 2016 and he is currently in second trailing by just 13 points. If he wins in Jonesboro he will overtake Simon Lizotte and move into the lead.
The Spartan Mowers / R&R Farm Equipment Jonesboro Open presented by Prodiscus starts on Thursday April 13. Make sure to follow the scores and stats live on udisclive.com and watch live coverage on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on dgpt.com . Will Ricky take home his first 2017 Pro Tour victory?
