Jonesboro Open MPO Round One: By the Numbers

Ricky Wysocki threw out a sizzling hot round of the day with a -13 at Jonesboro. His round was spotless and here are some of the reasons why. Every time Ricky
found himself in trouble, he found a way to scramble, recovering four out of four holes to keep his day unblemished. His putter stayed hot, making 18 of 18 putts, ranking first among the field. By the final hole he reached the top spot, hitting 12 of 18 greens in regulation.

Jeremy “Big Jerm” Koling in many ways was the best player in the field at Jonesboro today. If not for a miscue on hole #18, he might be tied for the lead. Still, his round was inspiring and the stats will show you why. Apart from the bogey on 18, Jeremy landed on a staggering 95% of the fairways, first among the competitors. If that wasn’t enough, he was also first in birdies, carding 12 of 18 holes under par. His putter was not exactly on fire, but parking 5 out of 18 holes (28%), and only driving short once, kept him in good position the whole day. The highlights of his day: a 60 foot putt on hole #13 and the seven consecutive birdies he carded on the front nine.

As we’ve come to expect, Simon Lizotte is almost always in contention. Simon managed to reach 15 of 18 (83.33%) greens in regulation circle 2 (GIR2). He also never drove short of circle 2 the entire round. If that wasn’t enough, his circle 1 putting was a perfect 17 of 17, first in the field. His average putting distance was 15 feet, with a 38 footer being his long putt of the day on hole #1, a great start for any player. The combination of solid putting, an 89% fairway hit rate, and monster drives propelled him to the lead card of the leaderboard.
